    Are diaphragms reusable?

    Yes, diaphragms are reusable. You'll need to wait at least 6 hours after having sex before you can remove it. Once you’ve taken it out, wash it with warm water and unperfumed soap. After rinsing it thoroughly, you can leave it to dry and keep it in a cool, dry place before using it again. The contraceptive diaphragm is reusable for up to 2 years.

    Do I need spermicide gel for my diaphragm?

    Yes, all diaphragms should be used with spermicide. You’ll need to add more spermicide if the diaphragm has been in place for more than 3 hours before you have sex.

    Do diaphragms come in different sizes?

    Yes, diaphragms come in different sizes and you must be fitted for the correct size by a doctor or nurse. You can get this done at your GP surgery or a sexual health clinic. If you have a baby, miscarriage or abortion, or if you gain or lose more than 3kg (7lb) you may need to be fitted with a new one.
